Tuam kept the pressure on at the top end of the table this weekend with a win over Castlebar at home. On a wet and windy Friday night in Garraun Park Tuam left themselves with all the work to do in the second half with the score 0-0 at half time. Stephen Kavanagh and Owen Lydon came on at half-time and seem to change the course of this game with Tuam simplifying their game plan in this period which built the platform for the backline to attack.
As Tuam’s pack started to take charge of the set pieces, the back’s began finding openings in the Castlebar defense resulting two early second half penalties against Castlebar being converted by Robbie Lee. As the attacks increased the Castlebar failed to contain Dave Burke who broke down the left side of the pitch to score for Tuam while Robbie Lee converted. After some more well worked phase play from the Tuam pack Nicky Brady scored a try. Castlebar again failed to contain Dave Burke and he scored Tuam’s last try leaving the scoreline Tuam 23 – Castlebar 0.
