Tuam RFC 1st XV played Galwegians in the Connacht Junior Plate Final 2010 in the Sportsgorund, Galway.
Tuam turned on the style at the Sportsground on Sunday and crowned of season of genuine progress with a Heineken Junior Plate title.
Galwegians battled well in the first half but two tries from Dave Lally, the second from an interception, had Tuam in front and in control at the break. It provided the platform to build on and in the second half they didn’t look back.
The sky blues had edged back to 13-9 just after half time when Ross Shaughnessy kicked three points but powerful eight Pa Cunningham crashed over soon after to begin to put the game beyond doubt.
It remained in the balance until full back Rob Lee crowned a fine performance with try number four to pave the way for captain Mike Ward to lift the crown and complete a season that has seen Tuam reach their goal of All Ireland Cup rugby in 2011 and some silverware thrown in for good measure.
